Identity Management projects are the newest trend. They are able to answer the compliance requirements and help to ease requirements for a saver work in a wide open company structure. They are infrastructure projects witch normally need a special, more carefully and complex analysis, conception and implementation. It also takes a lot of time until the aimed vantages reach the costs of the project, so it is no surprise that it is a hard decision to invest in such a project.

Once a infrastructure project is successfully moved, the following projects will take part of the advantages from the new infrastructure. At Identity Management e.g. of an existing user management and an automatically meet of the compliance requirements.

Since a long time analysts caution against beautification of the costs advantages in the capital investment of such huge projects. Frequently, analyst discover cost reductions on the helpdesk, by implementing a Single Sign-On (SSO) and user self services. Consequence is just cost shifting, because of the special challenge of continuity. The participants of this international working group share a first realization, already:
IAM projects can quickly grow to a waste of unlimited money without any usage, especially if you try to solve the conceptual task by simply integrating the systems.

The initiative GenericIAM can contribute to use project experience much more than a simple provider can do, so IAM Projects can be implemented at a lower price and much saver –suddenly the calculated examples are correct again.
