There are several reasons, why the endeavour to deliver generic processes for the Identity- & Access Management makes sense for several market partners:

• Enterprises having implemented IAM-Processes will surely benefit most from participating in this initiative. They in nearly all cases have modelled and implemented parts of the necessary processes only.

• Here they can check for completeness and identify missing parts.
• They additionally are offered a low cost way to complement and optimise their IAM process models.
• They get insight in the state of progress of their fellow participants.
• They may determine how "standardised" and "harmonised" their procedures are today.
• Based on this knowledge they can answer the questions: How well are we prepared for our future? Where do we have a need for action? Where do we have fields for further optimisation?
• Equipped with this knowledge they can answer the question: „What gap has to be filled for full compliance?"
• In medium terms we may offer a NIFIS compliance certificate for corporations who implemented GenericIAM-processes.

• Vendors and system integrators now can deliver their systems pre-filled with meaningful business content already. Their customers need not to start from scratch any longer. They hereby reduce the high modelling effort prior to any implementation and simultaneously shrink the implementation schedule..

• Freelanced Project leaders and Consultants focusing on process modelling will be enabled to start work based on a ready made Framework.

• In general we will contribute to the professionalisation and industrialisation of the entire discipline of Identity- & Access management by providing a generally accepted process reference model. We hereby lower the barrier for the introduction of policies, processes and systems in this field for many corporations.

• Last, but not least, all of those who contribute voluntarily to this movement may benefit from the success of their work by publicly demonstrating and hence proving their expertise as acknowledged IAM-process-experts to the public.
